For the sincere truth seeker wondering about our existential questions, before listening to the noise out there with countless contradicting claims, perhaps the first thing to do should be to carefully look into the existence we have found ourselves in. Who knows, maybe the existence itself is already trying to give us important clues?

And before looking outside of us, perhaps it is best first to look within. Since everyone else is also kind of like us, and there are so many more people, it may seem unremarkable, with nothing special, that we have acquired these bodies that we live in.

But in fact, our story is full of extraordinary details.

The Astonishing Story of Becoming a Human

The Miraculous Union of Two Completely Different Cells

• In two separate bodies, specialized cells are prepared: the egg, and the sperm.

• Each one undergoes a special process that reduces their chromosomes to half — 23 instead of 46.

• This means they are incomplete on their own, waiting for their perfect counterpart.

• Out of hundreds of millions of sperm, usually only one reaches and enters the egg.

• The egg instantly seals itself, preventing any other sperm from entering — a safeguard against chaos.

• Inside, the chromosomes from sperm and egg align and merge flawlessly, restoring the full set of 46.

• At that very moment, a new and unique human genetic blueprint comes into existence, unlike any that has ever existed before.

From a Single Cell

• We all begin our existence in this world as a single fertilized cell, carrying a complete set of DNA, about 3 billion “letters” of genetic code.

• In just nine months, this one cell multiplies into around 37 trillion cells, organized into bones, skin, blood, brain, and every organ needed to live.

• The blueprint for this transformation is written into our DNA from the very start. A mistake at any step could be disastrous, yet almost always, the process unfolds smoothly.

The Mastery of Genes and Molecular Biology

• Switching genes on and off

o Our DNA contains thousands of genes, but not all are active at once.

o Like a perfectly timed orchestra, certain genes switch on and off at just the right moments to guide each stage of development.

o If the timing is off, organs could form in the wrong place or not at all.

• Cells choosing their destiny

o In the early embryo, all cells are able to become any type of cell.

o Specific signals guide them to specialize: some become heart cells, others skin, nerves, or muscle.

o This process creates more than 200 unique cell types in the human body.

• The genetic body map

o Genes called HOX genes act like architects, telling cells where to build arms, legs, and spine segments.

o This molecular roadmap prevents body parts from forming in the wrong places.

• Building a circulatory lifeline

o As the embryo grows, tissues send out signals to command new blood vessels to grow exactly where oxygen is needed.

o This ensures every part of the body is nourished at the right time.

• Brain construction

o At its peak, the developing brain produces 250,000 new neurons per minute.

o These neurons form trillions of connections with great precision, wiring up circuits for thought, memory, and personality.

• Sculpting by self-destruction

o Early on, hands and feet look like paddles.

o Certain cells self-destruct in a process called apoptosis, carving out fingers and toes.

o Without this planned cell death, we would be born with webbed hands and feet, with no fingers.

The Protective Systems in the Womb

• The placenta

o This temporary organ acts as a life-support system, transferring nutrients and oxygen from the mother while filtering waste.

o Remarkably, it keeps the mother’s and baby’s blood separate, avoiding dangerous mixing.

• The amniotic sac

o The baby floats in a protective cushion of fluid, shielding it from shocks, infections, and dehydration.

o This same fluid helps lungs develop, as the baby practices “breathing” by inhaling and exhaling it.

• Early senses

o By 18 weeks, babies can hear sounds from outside the womb, including their mother’s heartbeat and voice.

o They respond to light, touch, and even taste changes in the fluid around them.

• Immune preparation

o Antibodies from the mother cross the placenta, giving the newborn protection against infections in the first months of life.

Birth and the Marvel of New Life

• Just before birth, the baby’s lungs, digestive system, and brain go through final adjustments to prepare for independence.

• Hormonal changes occur in both mother and baby that trigger labor and prepare the newborn for breathing, feeding, and bonding.

• The first breath is a dramatic shift: the lungs expand, and blood flow patterns instantly change to support life outside the womb.

Growth After Birth

• Babies triple their weight in the first year and grow rapidly, guided by genetic instructions and nutrition.

• Their brains remain astonishingly plastic, meaning they can rewire themselves to learn language, movement, and emotions.

• New synapses form in the brain at a rate of up to a million per second in early childhood.

• The immune system continues to develop, building memory against germs and strengthening the body’s defenses.

The Marvel of the Human Body

• The body has over 600 muscles and 206 bones, working in perfect harmony to allow movement.

• The heart beats about 100,000 times a day, pumping life-sustaining blood through 60,000 miles of vessels.

• The eyes can distinguish millions of colors, and the ears can detect minute differences in sound vibrations.

• Every cell works like a miniature factory, producing energy, repairing damage, and communicating with neighbors.

The Brain and the Mystery of Consciousness

• The human brain is the most complex known structure in the universe.

• With around 86 billion neurons and trillions of connections, it processes thoughts, memories, and emotions at incredible speed.

• Yet, beyond its biology, there is the profound mystery of consciousness, our awareness, ability to reflect, love, imagine, and wonder.

The process of our creation and growth shows a level of order, foresight, and beauty that strongly suggests we are not an accident of nature, but rather the result of something far greater — as if designed with intention.

To contemplate these is to be humbled by the extraordinary plan that makes our existence possible. From a single cell to a conscious being capable of love and thought, the journey of life is nothing short of miraculous.

In the Message, our Creator reminds us several times, in various ways, to reflect on how we have acquired our bodies and how we have been miraculously brought into existence, even though we had no understanding of the concept of existence.

As small kids, we have endless curiosity, trying to understand everything around us. Even though we don’t know much about any of these mind-blowing details, we still ask how and why we came into this world, because having begun to exist is such a strange thing in itself.

And things get even more confusing for our minds when we witness the concept of death for the first time, perhaps that of a family member or our first pet, and we all ask, “What will happen now to the deceased?”

As answers to these questions, we receive different explanations as children. Some of us continue to believe in these for the rest of our lives, while others begin thinking outside the box and chasing better answers. That is when we find ourselves among various claims about our reality.

But where is the true answer, can it even be known? If we have a Creator, we must ask: would this being give us existence for no reason, or does it make more sense, considering the signs of Its intelligence, that It created all of this with purpose? Its mercy toward us also suggests that It would not abandon those who genuinely seek the real answer, leaving them lost with no way to find it. Therefore, the answers must be made accessible to us, in the manner the Creator chooses, according to the purpose behind giving us existence.

Only such a universal truth can fully align with reality, make complete sense to our minds, and withstand all kinds of criticism. It is something that finally satisfies our childhood curiosity, capable of rekindling that wonder, joy, and hope we once carried so freely.
